X-it Letter

Let's cut to the chase.  The Trans Formations Project is leaving the platform formerly referred to as Twitter. This is a decision the leadership of TFP has been considering for some time. Our volunteers have had increasing difficulties posting on what is now called X. Our use of terms such as "transgender" and "trans," have had algorithmic difficulties. Ultimately, we cannot condone nor participate in a platform whose official policy is that "cisgender" is a slur.

The purpose of our organization is to inform and educate about the anti-trans legislative crisis in the United States. We got our start on Twitter, but since then have expanded our reach substantially. To organize for a better world, we must understand as exactly as possible the systems, rhetoric and laws that hold us back. To do our part in these efforts, please find us on many other platforms at linktr.ee/TransFormationsProject. We also encourage you to subscribe to our newsletter. You can sign up at this MailChimp link, where we provide a weekly wrap-up of what has gone on in anti-trans legislation in the United States every Friday.

We want to reiterate and reaffirm that there is no trans liberation without racial equity, without gender equity, without protection for the vulnerable and without confronting the vast array of bigotry that trans people face. Trans people belong to every group, every class, every society on earth. There is no trans liberation without broader liberation of all oppressed peoples. As the world at large, and the US in particular, hurtles towards open fascism, we must recognize our commonalities. The realization that our struggles are inextricably intertwined is integral to our success. We must first have the imagination to free our minds from bigotry. Let us imagine a better world before we can muster our courage and compassion to enact it.

Finally, both as an individual and as a representative of TFP, I want to sincerely thank you, our audience. Without you, nothing we are doing matters. We depend on you to take the information and analysis we provide and turn it into tangible action. That's why we are committed to providing our resources for free at all times. We always want to make our data accurate, accessible and actionable.

Trans and gender diverse people are fighting for our loved ones, our livelihoods, and our very lives themselves. Marginalized peoples of all types are fighting against a growing wave of fascism. This includes white supremacy, patriarchy, and Christian nationalism which threaten all but the most powerful and wealthy among us.

Together, we are stronger than that. Together, I know we can both struggle for, and win, a better world. A world where the vulnerable are protected. Diversity is celebrated. Where humanity of all varieties is venerated.

In solidarity,

Alexander Petrovnia
